Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus extr, Dermatophagoides farinae extr
Indications/Uses
Patients w/ clinical history & +ve test of house dust mite sensitization w/ 1 of the following conditions: Persistent moderate to severe house dust mite allergic rhinitis despite use of symptom-relieving medication (in adults & adolescents). House dust mite allergic asthma not well controlled by inhaled corticosteroids & associated w/ mild to severe house dust mite allergic rhinitis (in adults).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent 12-17 yr 1 tab daily.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 5 min before meals & beverage. Take w/ dry fingers from the blister unit immediately after opening the blister & place under the tongue, where it will disperse. Avoid swallowing for approx 1 min.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ FEV1 <70% of predicted value after adequate pharmacological treatment at initiation; severe asthma exacerbation w/in the last 3 mth; asthma w/ acute resp tract infection (postpone until infection has resolved); active or poorly controlled autoimmune diseases, immune defects, immunodeficiencies, immunosuppression or malignant neoplastic diseases w/ current disease relevance; acute severe oral inflammation or wounds.
Special Precautions
Not intended for acute asthma exacerbations. Used initially as add-on therapy & not as a substitute of preexisting asthma medication. Previous systemic allergic reaction to SC house dust mite immunotherapy; cardiac disease; eosinophilic esophagitis; severe or persistent gastroesophageal symptoms eg, dysphagia or dyspepsia; autoimmune disease in remission; fish allergy. Postpone therapy & temporarily interrupt ongoing treatment in case of severe oral inflammation, oral wounds or following oral surgery, including dental extraction, or following tooth loss. Avoid abrupt discontinuation of asthma controller medication. Pregnancy (w/ preexisting asthma). Childn <12 yr. Elderly >65 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Nasopharyngitis; ear pruritus; throat irritation; lip edema, edema mouth, oral pruritus. Bronchitis, pharyngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis; dysgeusia; eye pruritus; asthma, cough, dysphonia, dyspnea, oropharyngeal pain, pharyngeal edema; abdominal pain, diarrhea, dysphagia, dyspepsia, GERD, glossodynia, glossitis, lip pruritus, mouth ulceration, oral pain, tongue pruritus, nausea, oral discomfort, oral mucosal erythema, paresthesia oral, stomatitis, tongue edema, vomiting; pruritus, urticaria; chest discomfort, fatigue.
