Why do I need this medicine?
Triclosan is an antiseptic used to prevent skin infections in wounds or before surgery.

This medicine may also be used to disinfect the hands and other parts of the body.
How do I use this medicine?
Apply Triclosan exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more often or over a larger area than instructed by your doctor.

This medicine is available as a soap, foam, or wipes.

If you are using the soap or foam as an antiseptic cleanser, apply a liberal amount on wet hands and rub them together to spread the lather. Wash your hands well for at least 15-60 seconds. Rinse off with water and dry your hands thoroughly.

If you are using Triclosan as hand antiseptic before surgery, apply about 5 mL on wet hands, rub them together, and wash for 1 minute (paying special attention to the areas around the fingernails and cuticles, and between the fingers). Rinse your hands and repeat washing for 2 minutes. Thoroughly rinse and dry your hands with a sterile towel.

Avoid any contact of this medicine with your eyes. Rinse immediately with water if Triclosan accidentally gets into your eyes. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyes.

Do not use this medicine on broken skin.
What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?
Use Triclosan as soon as you remember.

Do not use more than what is instructed by the doctor.
What should I take note of while using this medicine?
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before using Triclosan to a child.
What side effects could I experience?
Triclosan may cause any of the following side effects: skin irritation, rashes with itching, and redness.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I use this with other medicines?
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
