Contents
Magnesium Trisilicate, Aluminium Hydroxide, Simethicone.
Description
Each sachet (7 ml) contains: Active ingredient: Aluminium Hydroxide Dried Gel (equal to 229.5 mg Aluminium Hydroxide) 300 mg, Magnesium Trisilicate 4.8 - 6.2 H2O 300 mg, Simethicone (Activated Dimethylpolysiloxane) 25 mg.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Sorbitol Solution, Methyl Paraben, Saccharin Sodium, Xanthan Gum, Povidone, Propyl Paraben, Cough drop Flavour, Purified Water.
Indications/Uses
Konimag relieves nausea, acid indigestion, upset stomach and peptic ulcer.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Route of administration: Oral use.
Adults: 3 - 4 times daily, 1 - 2 sachets.
To be taken one hour after meal and at bed time. Do not exceed the stated dose.
Overdosage
Overdose of antacid may cause alkalosis. If the patient suspects an overdose, call the local poison control center or emergency department immediately.
Contraindications
Hypoacidity.
Special Precautions
Do not use for patient with serious kidney failures which may cause hypermagnesemia.
Not recommended for treatment more than 2 weeks, unless recommended by physician.
Not recommended for children under 6 years old, except upon physician's advice. If required to be combined with Tetracycline, an interval of 1 - 2 hours should be applied.
Effects on ability to drive and operate machines: There is no effect of antacids on ability to drive and operate machine.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Antacids are generally considered safe as long as chronic high doses are avoided.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea or vomiting.
Inform the doctor of undesirable effects occurring during the use of drug.
Drug Interactions
Concurrent use with antacids may decrease absorption, reducing the effectiveness of anticholinergics, doses of these medications should be spaced 1 hour apart from doses of antacids.
Prolonged use of aluminium and / or magnesium containing antacids may decrease folic acid absorption by raising the pH of the small intestine; patients should be advised to take antacids at least 2 hours after folic acid.
Concurrent use with aluminium-containing antacids may delay and decrease absorption of oral Isoniazid; concurrent use should be avoided or the patients should be advised to take oral Isoniazid at 1 hour before the antacids.
Storage
Store at 25°C ± 5°C in tight container in a dry and cool place.
Shelf-life: 30 months from manufacturing date.
