Hexetidine is used to treat throat and mouth infections e.g. gingivitis (bleeding gums), mouth ulcers, bad breath or sore throat.
This medicine may also be used as part of your daily mouth hygiene and after a dental work.
Use this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
There is no need for this medicine to be diluted in water. Rinse the mouth before spitting out.
Do not swallow the solution.
Use the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
Do not give this medicine to children below 6 years old unless instructed to do so by the doctor.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Hexetidine to a child. Children may be more sensitive to the side effects
Hexetidine may cause any of the following side effects: irritation, tingling or numbness of the tongue or inside the mouth, taste disturbance or loss of taste, dry mouth.
Inform your doctor if you experience any side effects which do not go away or are severe.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol. Consuming large amount of alcohol is very damaging to the liver.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Keep in the original package to protect from light.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
