Hepasel (biphenyl dimethyl dicarboxylate) is dimethyl-4,4'-dimethoxy-5, 6,5'6'-dimethylenedioxy-biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxylate (DDB). It is a synthetic analogue of schizandrin C which was isolated from Fructus Schizandrae chinensis, a traditional Chinese medicinal plant. The empirical formula is C₂₀H₁₆O₁₀ and molecular weight of 418.96 available in white crystal.
