Why do I need this medicine?
Guaifenesin is used to relieve the symptoms of cough. This medicine helps loosen and thin secretion of phlegm to ease productive cough (cough that produces phlegm).
How do I take this medicine?
Take Guaifenesin exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

You may take this medicine with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Guaifenesin is available as a tablet or oral solution.

If you are taking the extended release type of tablet (usually labelled as “ER”), swallow it whole. Do not divide, chew or crush the tablet. Administer with a full glass of water.

If you are taking an oral solution, shake the bottle well before you take it to ensure that the liquid is evenly mixed. Use the measuring spoon or cup provided to measure your dose.

Ensure adequate fluid intake while taking Guaifenesin.
What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
When should I not use this medicine?
Do not give this medicine to children below 6 years old unless instructed to do so by the doctor.
What should I take note of while taking this medicine?
Inform your doctor if you have persistent or chronic cough (e.g. cough that occurs with smoking or asthma) or cough accompanied by excessive phlegm.

Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you are going for laboratory test (e.g. urine tests), let your doctor know that you are taking this medicine.

Notify your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if your cough is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache.
What side effects could I experience?
Guaifenesin may cause any of the following side effects: stomach pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea and rash.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I take this with other medicines?
Inform your doctor if you are taking any cough suppressant.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
What special dietary instructions should I follow?
Avoid alcohol.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
