Erdosteine - oral

Patient Medicine Information
Why do I need this medicine?
Erdosteine is used to treat lung problems associated with the production of too much phlegm (mucus). It helps loosen up the mucus for you to easily cough it up.

This medicine is also used to treat symptoms of short, severe episodes of worsening chronic bronchitis (a condition where your airways are inflamed and produce a lot of mucus).
How do I take this medicine?
Take Erdosteine exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Try to take it at the same time each day.

This medicine is available as a capsule, dispersible tablet, or oral suspension. Do not change from one drug form to another without consulting your doctor first.

If you are taking the capsule, swallow it whole with a glass of water.

If you are taking the dispersible tablet, dissolve the tablet in a glass of water then stir and drink the solution immediately.

If you are taking the oral suspension, loosen the dry powder by shaking the bottle and slowly add the specified volume of water to reconstitute the suspension. Shake the bottle well before you take it to ensure that the liquid is evenly mixed. Use the measuring spoon or cup provided to measure your dose.

The dose of this medicine will be decided by your doctor. Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on your response to the medication.
What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
