Clarithromycin
Indications/Uses
Upper & lower resp tract infections, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, acute maxillary sinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, uncomplicated skin & skin-structure infection.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Upper resp tract infections 250-500 mg for 10-14 days. Lower resp tract infections 250 mg for 7-14 days. Uncomplicated skin & skin-structure infections 250 mg for 7-14 days.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Mild to severe pseudomembranous colitis. Patients w/ renal &/or hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhoea, nausea, abnormal taste, dyspepsia, abdominal pain/discomfort & headache.
Drug Interactions
Increased serum theophylline conc. May increase conc of carbamazepine. Terfenadine. May elevate digoxin levels.
