Why do I need this medicine?
Azithromycin is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis (inflammation of the mucous membranes in the eye caused by certain bacteria).
How do I use this medicine?
Instill Azithromycin eye drop exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.

How to use eye drop solution:
  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before using the eye drops.
  2. Shake the bottle once before using.
  3. Tilt your head slightly backwards and look upwards. Pull down the lower eyelid gently using your finger.
  4. Instill the required number of drops inside the lower eyelid.
  5. Close your eyes and roll them slowly in all directions. Repeat for the other eye if required.
  6. Wipe excess liquid from your face with a clean tissue.
  7. Replace and tighten the cap of the bottle.

If you have been given another eye drop to be used together with Azithromycin, use the other eye drop first, wait for 15 minutes then instill Azithromycin last.

Do not allow the tip of the eye drop bottle to touch your eyes, eyelids or other surfaces. Recap the eye drop immediately after use. If the eye drop becomes contaminated, it could cause an infection in your eyes.
