Indications/Uses
Bladder outlet obstruction associated w/ BPH in patients ≥50 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 4 mg bd. Hepatic impairment Start treatment at 2 mg/dose.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take after breakfast & evening meal.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Reduce dose or discontinue use if decreased BP occurs. Orthostatic hypotension. Retrograde ejaculation. Intraoperative floppy iris syndrome. Concomitant use w/ PDE-5 inhibitors, α1-blockers & other hypotensive drugs. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Hepatic & renal impairment. Male fertility. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Abnormal ejaculation; thirst; increased triglycerides.
Drug Interactions
Blocked metabolism w/ potent CYP3A4 inhibitors. Diminished ability to regulate BP on standing w/ hypotensive agents. Elevated plasma conc w/ azole antifungals eg, itraconazole, ketoconazole. Enhanced hypotensive effect w/ PDE-5 inhibitors eg, sildenafil citrate, vardenafil HCl hydrate.
