Indications/Uses
Bronchial asthma & COPD associated w/ bronchospasm.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Acute MI, hypotension. Lactation.
Special Precautions
CHF, chronic obstructive lung disease, concomitant infections, HTN, heart disease, hypoxemia, hyperthyroidism, chronic right ventricular failure, history of peptic ulcer. Hepatic & renal disease. Pregnancy. Childn <18 yr. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Occasionally, nausea, vomiting, headache, irritability, insomnia, palpitations, tachycardia.
Drug Interactions
Toxic synergism w/ ephedrine. Decreased hepatic clearance w/ erythromycin, troleandomycin, lincomycin, clindamycin, allopurinol, propranolol, digoxin, anti-flu vaccine. Increased clearance w/ shorter mean t½ w/ phenytoin, other anticonvulsants; smoking. Not to be administered w/ other xanthine derivatives.
