Freeze-dried Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-1079
Indications/Uses
Acute diarrhoea in childn & adults. Prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea in childn & adults. Prevention of tube feeding-associated diarrhoea in adults. Addition to vancomycin/metronidazole-treatment to prevent recurrence of Clostridium difficile diseases in adults.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1-2 cap once or bd. Childn >6 yr 1-2 cap daily. Duration of treatment: Acute infectious diarrhoea Approx 1 wk. Prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea Start treatment w/in 48-72 hr, continue for at least 3 days & not >4 wk. Prevention of Clostridium difficile-disease recurrence Start as soon as possible & continue for 4 wk. Prevention of tube-feeding associated diarrhoea Max duration: 4 wk.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow w/ a glass of water. For childn unable to swallow, may empty contents into water/sweetened beverage. Do not mix w/ very hot/iced/alcoholic drinks/food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ central venous catheter. Critically ill or immunocompromised patients.
Special Precautions
Not recommended during pregnancy & lactation.
