Dexchlorpheniramine maleate
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of seasonal hay fever, itching skin conditions in urticaria, sensitivity reactions & other allergic conditions.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult & childn >12 yr 1 tab tds-qds. Childn 6-11 yr ½ tab tds-qds. Syr Adult & childn >12 yr 5 mL tds-qds. Childn 6-11 yr 2.5 mL tds-qds.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Special Precautions
History of bronchial asthma, hyperthyroidism, CV disease, HTN. Avoid alcohol ingestion. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid use during 1st & 2nd trimester pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Urticaria, drug rash, excessive perspiration, chills, dryness of mouth, nose & throat, headache, excitation, insomnia, nervousness, irritability, blurred vision, difficult urination, early menses, thickening of bronchial secretions, chest tightness, wheezing & nasal stiffness.
Drug Interactions
Enhanced drowsiness w/ other sedative drugs. Hypotension w/ MAOIs.
