Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
1st course: 50 mg daily for 5 days, started on or about 5th day of cycle. If there is no ovulation, 100 mg daily for 5 days. May be started as early as 30 days after 1st course.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal dysfunction; abnormal uterine bleeding, endometrial carcinoma, hormone dependent tumors, ovarian cysts, organic intracranial lesion. Liver disease or history of liver dysfunction. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if any visual symptoms occur. Not to be used in patients w/ preexisting mental depression or thrombophlebitis; presence of ovarian cyst including endometriosis involving the ovary. Ineffective in patients w/ primary pituitary or ovarian failure. Ovarian hyperstimulation & abnormal ovarian enlargement; uterine fibroids. Perform pelvic exam prior to treatment & before each subsequent course. Not recommended for long-term cyclic therapy. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Multiple pregnancies; pregnancy wastage & birth anomalies. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Syncope; acne, dermatitis, dry hair, erythema, erythema multiforme & nodosum, vasomotor flushes, hypertrichosis, hair loss, pruritus, rash, urticaria; thyroid gland disorder, decreased/increased wt; abdominal-pelvic discomfort, acute abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting; increased liver enzyme; arthralgia, backache, myalgia; asthenia, dizziness, headache, insomnia, lightheadedness, migraine, paresthesia, walking unsteady, vertigo; eye/vision finding, temporary functional visual loss, eye pain, photopsia; tinnitus; anxiety, depression, fatigue, feeling nervous, irritability, mood disorder; polyuria; ovarian cyst & hyperstimulation, endometriosis, breast pain; vag dryness; fever.
