Tranexamic acid
Indications/Uses
Bleeding tendencies & abnormal bleeding involving systemic hyperfibrinolysis. Symptomatic treatment of eczema, urticaria, drug eruptions or toxicoderma; tonsillitis, pharyngolaryngitis. Pain in the oral cavity or mucosal aphtha in case of stomatitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 250-500 mg in 1-2 divided doses. During or post-op 500-1,000 mg IV or 500-2,500 mg IV drip infusion.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. History of venous or arterial thrombosis, convulsions. Intrathecal & intraventricular inj, intracerebral application.
Special Precautions
Not to be inj IM. Not to be given in patients w/ history of convulsion, disseminated intravascular coagulation w/ predominant coagulation system activation. Renal & upper urinary tract haematuria; risk factors for thromboembolic disease. Concomitant use of OCs. Renal insufficiency. Pregnancy & lactation.

Not to be given w/ blood transfusion or penicillin-containing inj.
