Fusidic acid.
Description
Each gram contains Fusidic Acid 2% w/w.
It also contains the following preservatives: Methyl Paraben 0.1% w/w and Propyl Paraben 0.1% w/w.
Action
Pharmacology: Pharmacodynamics: Fusidic acid is an antibiotic with powerful antibacterial activity against a number of gram-positive organisms. Staphylococci, including the strains resistant to penicillin or to other antibiotics, are particularly susceptible to fusidic acid. Besides pronounced antibacterial activity against the majority of organisms responsible for skin infections, this product also possesses unique ability for penetration to the focus of infection, even when applied to intact skin.
Pharmacokinetics: Fusidic acid is bound reversibly to plasma proteins, the binding being about 95%. Fusidic  acid is metabolized in the liver and metabolites are excreted with bile.
Indications/Uses
This cream is indicated for treatment of skin infections caused by staphylococci, streptococci, Propionibacterium acnes, Corynebacterium minutissimum and other organsims sensitive to fusidic acid. The most important indications being: Impetigo; infected wounds; folliculitis; boils; sycosis barbae; carbuncles; hidradenitis; paronychia; erythrasma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply to the affected area 2-3 times daily, generally for a period of 7 days, except in treatment of acne where therapy should be extended for a longer period according to the nature of this disease.
Mode of Administration: To be applied topically.
Overdosage
Acute overdose is very unlikely to occur. When the symptoms of overdose present, application of the product should be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted.
Contraindications
Infections caused by non-susceptible organisms. Patients with hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
There is inadequate evidence of safety in human pregnancy. Animal studies and many years of clinical experience have suggested that fusidic acid is devoid of teratogenic effects.
Safety in nursing mothers has not been established.
Adverse Reactions
This cream is remarkably well tolerated, and there is an extremely low frequency of hypersensitivity reactions.

Caution For Usage
Incompatibilities: This cream is a ready-to-use preparation and should, therefore, not to be mixed with other ingredients or preparations.
Storage
Store at temperature below 30°C.
