Why do I need this medicine?
Framycetin is an antibiotic. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the ear.
How do I use this medicine?
Apply Framycetin in the affected ear(s) exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Do not skip any doses. You must complete the entire course of this medicine. If you don't, the infection will not be properly controlled.

When using this medicine for your ear, follow these steps:
  1. Wash your hand with soap and water before using the ear drops. Ensure that your ear canal is clean and dry.
  2. Shake the bottle well before using.
  3. Lie down or tilt your head to one side.
  4. Gently pull and hold your ear up and back. Instill the required number of drops into your ear.
  5. Keep your head tilted for several minutes.
  6. Replace and tighten the cap of the bottle.
Do not allow the tip of the dropper of this medicine to touch your ears or any other surface. Recap the ear drop immediately after use. If the ear drop becomes contaminated, it could cause an infection in your ears.

If you have been given any other ear drops or medicines to be used together with Framycetin, wait for at least 5 minutes before using the other medicine.

Do not share your ear drop with anyone else.

The dose of this medicine will be decided by your doctor. Your doctor will advise you on the dose and frequency of application depending on your infection.
What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?
Instill the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to use your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
When should I not use this medicine?
Do not use Framycetin if you ever had an allergic reaction (e.g. rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to this medicine, or any similar antibiotics such as neomycin, kanamycin.
What should I take note of while using this medicine?
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Maintain good hygiene as this is important in managing ear infections.

Avoid use for more than 2 weeks. Prolonged use of this medicine is not advisable. Use only as instructed by your doctor.
What side effects could I experience?
Framycetin may cause any of the following side effects: ear irritation, burning or stinging sensation of the ears.

If you develop any hearing problems, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor quickly.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I use this with other medicines?
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are using any other medicines in your ears.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
What special dietary instructions should I follow?
Avoid alcohol.
How should I store this medicine?
Store below 25°C, away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.

Throw away any remaining ear drops 4 weeks after opening. Mark the date of opening on the ear drop so that you know when to discard it.
