Why do I need this medicine?
Dimenhydrinate is used to treat or prevent nausea, vomiting, and vertigo (dizziness with sensations of spinning) associated with motion sickness.
How do I take this medicine?
Take Dimenhydrinate exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Try to take it at the same time each day.

Dimenhydrinate is available as a conventional or chewable tablet, capsule, and oral syrup.

If you are taking the conventional tablet or capsule, swallow it whole with a glass of water.

If you are taking the chewable tablet, it should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing.

If you are taking the oral syrup, shake the bottle well before you take it to ensure that the liquid is evenly mixed. Use the measuring spoon or cup provided to measure your dose.

For the prevention of motion sickness, it should be taken at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before the travel.

You may stop taking Dimenhydrinate when you do not feel nauseous, have spinning sensations, or the urge to vomit.
What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
What should I take note of while taking this medicine?
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • history of asthma or other lung diseases
  • increased pressure in the eye
  • prostate enlargement
  • obstruction of the urinary tract
  • heart disease including high blood pressure or irregular heartbeat
  • obstruction in the stomach outlet
  • fits or seizures
  • thyroid disease
  • liver disease
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Dimenhydrinate to a child or the elderly. Children and the elderly may be more sensitive to the side effects.
What side effects could I experience?
Dimenhydrinate may cause drowsiness or impaired mental alertness. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert.

Other side effects include any of the following: headache, dizziness, dry mouth, nose, or throat; stomach pain or discomfort, muscle weakness, painful urination, loss of appetite, nervousness, restlessness; excitement, difficulty sleeping (especially in children); weakness, blurred vision, coughing up of thick mucus, rapid heartbeat, and rash.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I take this with other medicines?
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
  • certain antibiotics known as aminoglycosides e.g. gentamicin, tobramycin
  • medicines that can cause drowsiness or affect your concentration e.g. phenobarbital, morphine
  • medicines to treat depression e.g. nortriptyline, desipramine
  • medicines to treat Parkinson's disease (a disorder that affects the movement of a person, causing symptoms such as tremors, muscle stiffness, slowed movement and impaired balance or walking) e.g. trihexyphenidyl
This list does not include all medicines that may interact with Dimenhydrinate.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
What special dietary instructions should I follow?
Avoid alcohol. Alcohol intake may worsen the dizziness and drowsiness caused by Dimenhydrinate.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Protect from light.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
