Bifonazole
Indications/Uses
Skin mycoses caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, molds & other fungi (eg, athlete's foot, fungal hand infection, ringworms, jock itch, white spots, superficial fungal skin infections & other tinea conditions). Erythrasma (skin redness).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply thinly to affected area(s) once daily preferably in the evening. Duration of treatment: Foot mycoses (athlete's foot) 3 wk. Trunk, hands & skin folds mycoses (ringworms, fungal hand infection, jock itch) 2-3 wk. White spots & erythrasma (skin redness) 2 wk. Superficial skin candidiasis 2-4 wk.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
History of hypersensitivity to other imidazole antifungal agents eg, econazole, clotrimazole, miconazole. Avoid contact w/ eyes. Concomitant use w/ warfarin. Avoid use during 1st trimester of pregnancy. Not to be used during lactation. Infants & toddlers.
Adverse Reactions
General disorders & administration site conditions, administration site pain, peripheral oedema, skin & SC tissue disorders, contact & allergic dermatitis, erythema, pruritus, rash, urticaria, blister, eczema, dry skin, skin exfoliation, irritation, maceration & burning sensation.
