Benzydamine is used to relieve pain, inflammation or irritation of the mouth and throat.
Take Benzydamine exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
To take the lozenge, suck the lozenge until the taste become strong, then lodge it between the gums and cheek. When the taste fades, start sucking the lozenge again. Repeat until it completely dissolves. Do not chew or swallow.
Do not take this medicine for more than 7 days, unless instructed by your doctor.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
Do not take Benzydamine if you ever had an allergic reaction (e.g. rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to this medicine or similar painkillers such as aspirin.
Inform your doctor if you have or have had asthma or other breathing problems.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Benzydamine to a child. Children aged around 6-11 years, who are taking the lozenge, must be supervised by adults as they may be at risk of choking.
Benzydamine may cause any of the following side effects: numbness, burning or stinging sensation in the mouth and throat, dry mouth, thirst, nausea, vomiting, and skin sensitivity to sunlight.
If you develop rashes, breathlessness, swollen mouth or eyes, stop taking this medicine and inform your doctor immediately. These could be signs of an allergic reaction.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. Protect from moisture.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
