Ondansetron
Indications/Uses
Management of nausea & vomiting induced by chemotherapy & RT. Post-op nausea & vomiting.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Prevention of post-op nausea & vomiting 4 mg IM single dose or slow IV. Prevention of nausea & vomiting associated w/ highly emetogenic 8 mg slow IV or infuse over 15 min immediately before chemotherapy, followed by continuous infusion of 1 mg ondansetron/hr for <24 hr or 2 inj of 8 mg slow IV or infuse over 15 min 4 hr apart. Prevention of nausea & vomiting associated w/ moderately emetogenic 8 mg slow IV or infuse over 15 min immediately before chemotherapy. Childn >4 yr 5 mg/m2 IV over 15 min immediately before chemotherapy.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, warm sensation in the head & epigastrium.
