Per 5 mL Oxomemazine HCl equiv to oxomemazine 1.65 mg, guaifenesin 33.3 mg Per Forte Cap Oxomemazine 3.34 mg, guaifenesin 66.6 mg

Indications/Uses

Reduce cough w/ sputum accompanied by allergic reaction.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult & childn >2 yr weighing >40 kg 10 mL 4 times daily. Childn 10-12 yr, 30-40 kg 10 mL 3-4 times daily; 6-10 yr, 20-30 kg 10 mL 2-3 times daily; 2-6 yr, 10-20 kg 5 mL 2-3 times daily. Min dosing interval is 4 hr. Forte cap Adult >12 yr 1 cap 4 times daily.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to antihistamines, history of agranulocytosis, risk of urinary retention related to urethroprostatic disorders & closed angle glaucoma. 1st trimester of pregnancy & lactation.

Special Precautions

Monitor clinical & EEG in epileptics. CV disorders. Impaired liver &/or renal function. Avoid exposure to sun during treatment. Do not use in childn <2 yr. Rule out bronchial asthma & GERD prior to use in childn. Elderly.

Adverse Reactions

Sedation or drowsiness; anticholinergic effects eg, dry mucous membranes, constipation, impaired accomodation, mydriasis, cardiac palpitations & risk of urinary retention; orthostatic hypotension; impaired balance, vertigo, memory or conc impairment, motor incoordination & tremor; mental confusion & hallucinations. Erythema, eczema, pruritus, purpura, giant urticaria, edema, anaphylactic shock, photosensitization. Leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia.

Drug Interactions

Increased sedative effect w/ alcohol. Increased risk of arrhythmia w/ sultopride. CNS depressants, atropine & other atropine-like substances.
