Each gram contains: Azelaic Acid 200 mg.
Pharmacology: Azelaic Acid is a natural saturated dicarboxylic acid. Azelaic Acid has bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects against aerobic and anaerobic microorganism found on the acne skin.
Azelaic Acid reduces in the density of cutaneous micrococcaceae and intrafollicular Propionibacterium sp., and decreased the fatty acid content of the skin surface. Sebum production, the composition of sebum and sebaceous gland morphology were not changed significantly.
Azelaic Acid show an antikeratinizing effect on normal and acne-affected skin. It is associated with decreased synthesis of filaggrin (keratin filament aggregating protein). Hence a reduction in follicular hyperkeratosis may partly underline the drug's antiacne.
For topical treatment of acne vulgaris.
Before ZELIRIS is applied, clean the affected skin with clear or mild skin-cleansing agent. Apply cream to the affected skin twice daily (morning and afternoon).
