Cefixime
Indications/Uses
Uncomplicated UTI, otitis media, pharyngitis & tonsillitis, acute & chronic bronchitis w/ acute exacerbations.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥30 kg Recommended daily dose: 50-100 mg twice daily. Severe infection May be increased to 200 mg twice daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ food or milk to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. History of shock.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ a history of bronchial asthma, rash, urticaria; severe renal function disorders; malnourished patients who are receiving parenteral nutrition. Pregnancy & lactation. Newborns or premature babies. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity, shock, granulocytopenia or eosinophilia, increased SGOT, SGPT or alkaline phosphatase, headache or dizziness.
