Dexketoprofen trometamol
Indications/Uses
Mild to moderate acute musculoskeletal pain, dysmenorrhea, toothache & post-op pain.
Dosage/Direction for Use
FC tab 12.5 mg every 4-6 hr or 25 mg every 8 hr. Post-op pain 25 mg every 8 hr. Max: 75 mg daily. Elderly 50 mg total daily dose. Patient w/ mild to moderate hepatic & mild renal dysfunction 50 mg total daily dose. IV/IM inj 50 mg/mL 8-12 hrly. Max: 150 mg daily.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 30 min before meals, especially for quick relief of acute pain.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to dexketoprofen or to any other NSAID. History of asthma, bronchospasm, acute rhinitis or nasal polyp, urticaria or angioneurotic edema, peptic ulcer or chronic dyspepsia, gastric bleeding or other active haemorrhage, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, severe cardiac failure, moderate to severe renal dysfunction, severe liver dysfunction, haemorrhagic diathesis, coagulation disorder & anticoagulant therapy. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
History of allergic conditions & asthma. Monitor patients for digestive disturbances, especially GI bleeding. Discontinue treatment if GI bleeding or ulcerations occurs. May increase plasma urea nitrogen & creatinine. Patients suffering from haemetopoietic disorders, SLE or mixed connective tissue disease. May mask the symptoms of infectious diseases. History of esophagitis &/or peptic ulcer should be considered prior to initiation of treatment. May cause emergence of new or worsening of existing HTN; GI bleeding, ulceration & perforation. Monitor BP prior & during the therapy. Patients receiving diuretic therapy or who may have potential hypovolemia. Patients w/ impaired liver, kidney or heart function & other conditions that would cause fluid retention; HTN. Monitor kidney & liver function. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, pain at inj site (IV/IM), abdominal pain, diarrhea, dyspepsia.
Drug Interactions
Synergistic effect w/ other NSAIDs. Increased risk of bleeding & damage to GI mucosa w/ anticoagulants, over-dose heparin & ticlopidine. Increased blood levels or toxicity of lithium, MTX, hydantoin, sulfonamide, zidovudine, cardiac glycosides. Decreased effects of antihypertensives, diuretics, β-blockers. Increased risk of bleeding w/ pentoxifylline & thrombolytics. Increased hypoglycemic effects of sulfonylureas. Increased nephrotoxicity w/ cyclosporine, tacrolimus. Increased blood levels w/ probenecid. Mifepristone. Increased risk of convulsions w/ quinolones.
