Contents
Typhoid (purified Vi polysaccharide), hepatitis A (inactivated)
Indications/Uses
Combined active immunization against typhoid fever & infection w/ HAV in subjects aged ≥16 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 mL of mixed vaccine by slow IM inj into the deltoid muscle. Administer booster dose of inactivated HAV 6-12 mth later. Subjects who received 1 dose of Vivaxim Administer either 1 dose of monovalent hepatitis A vaccine w/in 36 mth & preferably w/in 6-12 mth or a 2nd dose may be administered if protection is still required 36 mth after the 1st dose. Subjects who received 1 dose of monovalent hepatitis A vaccine Administer booster w/in 36 mth of hepatitis A vaccine inj & preferably w/in 6-12 mth.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the vaccine or neomycin. Postpone vaccination in patients w/ acute severe febrile illness.
Special Precautions
Not to be inj intravascularly, intradermally or into buttocks. Not for protection against infections caused by other liver pathogens eg, HBV, HCV or hepatitis E virus; Salmonella enterica or other than serotype typhi. May not prevent hepatitis A. Postpone vaccination until the end of any immunosuppressive treatment. Syncope; phenylketonuria. Inj SC if patient suffers from blood clotting disorders. Has minor influence on the ability to drive & use machines. Pregnancy & breastfeeding. Not recommended in patients <16 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Headache; myalgia; malaise, asthenia, inj site disorders (pain, induration, oedema, erythema). Nausea, diarrhoea; arthralgia; fever.
Drug Interactions
Not to be mixed w/ other vaccines in the same syringe. Lowered Ab titres w/ Ig.
