Tretinoin
Indications/Uses
Grade I-III acne w/ many comedones, papules, pustules, but not effective for severe pustular cases & nodular cystic varieties (acne conglobata).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply thinly once daily before bedtime.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Avoid application around the eyes, mouth, nose, & mucous membranes. Patients w/ eczema. Concomitant use w/ keratolytic agents eg, salicylic acid, sulfur. Avoid sunlight exposure. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Skin redness, swelling, blistering, or crusted. Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation (due to repeated use). Increased sensitivity to sunlight exposure.
Drug Interactions
UV light & drugs containing exfoliating agents eg, sulfur, resorcinol, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide.
