Cefepime HCl
Indications/Uses
Pneumonia; empiric treatment in febrile neutropenia, complicated upper urinary tract, skin & skin structure, intra-abdominal infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Mild to moderate UTI 500 mg-1 g IM/IV 12 hrly. Mild to moderate infections other than UTI 1 g IM/IV 12 hrly. Severe infections 2 g IV 12 hrly. Very severe or life-threatening infections 2 g IV 8 hrly.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or other β-lactam antibiotics.
Special Precautions
History of hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, penicillins or other drugs. Discontinue treatment if neutropenia occurs. Monitor prothrombin activities. History of colitis. Renal insufficiency. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
CNS effects, GI upsets, hypersensitivity & inj site reactions, transient hematological changes, anaphylactic reactions.
Drug Interactions
Aminoglycosides, potent diuretics.
