Aztreonam
Indications/Uses
Gm -ve infections: UTI, lower resp tract, intra-abdominal infections, O & G infections; septicemia; bone & joint infections; skin & soft tissue infections, gonorrhea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult UTI 0.5-1 g 8-12 hrly. Moderately severe systemic infection 1-2 g 8-12 hrly. Severe sysytemic or life-threatening infections or those caused by P. aeruginosa 2 g 6-8 hrly. Max dose: 8 g daily. Childn >2 yr 50 mg/kg 6-8 hrly, >1 wk -<2 yr 30 mg/kg 6-8 hrly. Max dose: 120 mg/kg/day.
Adverse Reactions
Local reactions at infusion site, skin rash, pruritus, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
