Sucralfate
Indications/Uses
Short-term (up to 8 wk) treatment of duodenal ulcer.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Susp 10 mL 4 times daily. Treatment should be continued for 4-8 wk unless there is demonstrated healing.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before meals & at bedtime.
Special Precautions
Chronic renal failure & dialysis patients. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Constipation, dry mouth. Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, gastric discomfort, flatulence, pruritus, rash, sleepiness, dizziness, back pain, headache.
Drug Interactions
Reduce bioavailability of cimetidine, fluoroquinolone antibiotics, digoxin, ketoconazole, phenytoin, ranitidine, tetracycline, quinidine, L-thyroxine & theophylline.
