Long-term prophylactic treatment of bronchial asthma & treatment of allergic symptoms including rhinitis & conjunctivitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1 tab/5 mL (1 mg) twice daily (morning & evening). Patient prone to sedation ½ tab/2.5 mL (0.5 mg) twice daily for the 1st wk or 1 tab/5 mL (1 mg) only at night & then increased up to full therapeutic dose. Syr May be increased up to 4 mg (20 mL) in 2 divided dosage. Childn >2 yr 1 mg (1 tab or 5 mL syr) twice daily. Childn prone to sedation 0.5 mg-1 mg at night for the 1st few days.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. May cause a reversible fall in thrombocyte count w/ concomitant administration w/ oral antidiabetic agents.
Special Precautions
Avoid abrupt w/drawal. Not effective for treatment of asthmatic attack. Recovery of a normal pituitary-adrenal response may take up to 1 yr. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Not recommended during pregnancy. Not to be used in breast-feeding women.
