Timolol maleate
Indications/Uses
Lowering IOP.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 drop 0.25% soln twice daily. If clinical response is inadequate, dose may be changed to 1 drop 0.5% soln twice daily .
Contraindications
Bronchial asthma, severe COPD, sinus bradycardia, 2nd or 3rd degree AV block, heart failure, cardiogenic shock.
Special Precautions
History of severe cardiac disease. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, fatigue, chest pain, bradycardia, arrhythmias, hypotension, syncope, heart block, cerebral ischemia, heart failure, palpitation, cardiac arrest, nausea, diarrhoea, dizziness, depression, myasthenia gravis, paresthesia, urticaria, alopecia.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant therapy w/ eye drops containing adrenaline. Possible additive effects w/ oral Ca antagonists, rauwolfia alkaloids, β-blockers.
