Ticlopidine HCl
Indications/Uses
Reduction of thrombogenic stroke in patients who have suffered stroke precursor symptoms. Reduction of thrombogenic risk in patients unresponsive to aspirin.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab once or twice daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
History of leucopenia, thrombocytopenia & agranulocytosis. Hemostatic disorders, active haemorrhage eg, active peptic ulcer or intracranial haemorrhage. Acute haemorrhagic strokes, allergy, severe hepatic disorders.
Special Precautions
Patients undergoing surgery or tooth extraction. Bleeding disorders or hematoma. Impaired renal function. Discontinue use if hematologic disorders, fever, sore throat or aphthous ulcers occur. Perform blood evaluation periodically. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <18 mth.
Adverse Reactions
GI disorders, haematologic or haemorrhagic disorders. Urticaria, rash, erythema. Hepatic disorders or hyperlipidemia.
Drug Interactions
Warfarin, heparin, acetylsalicylic acid, theophylline, cimetidine, antacids.
