Sucralfate
Indications/Uses
Short-term treatment (up to 8 wk) of duodenal ulcer.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 10 mL 4 times daily. Continue treatment unless there is demonstrated healing by endoscopy or x-ray.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before meals & before bedtime.
Special Precautions
Chronic kidney failure & patients under dialysis. Administer antacids in ½ hr interval before or after sucralfate. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Constipation, dry mouth.
Drug Interactions
Reduce absorption or bioavailability of cimetidine, ciprofloxacin, digoxin, ketoconazole, norfloxacin, phenytoin, ranitidine, tetracycline & theophylline.
