Paracetamol
Indications/Uses
Short-term treatment of moderate pain, especially following surgery & short-term treatment of fever, when administration by IV route is clinically justified by urgent need to treat pain or hyperthermia &/or when other routes of administration are ineffective.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adolescent & adult weighing >50 kg 1 g as 15-min IV infusion 4 times/day. Max daily dose: 4 g. Adolescent & adult weighing <50 kg, childn weighing >33 kg 15 mg/kg as 15-min IV infusion 4 times/day. Max daily dose: 60 mg/kg. Min interval between dose administration: 4 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Severe liver insufficiency.
Special Precautions
Hepatocellular insufficiency, severe renal insufficiency (CrCl <30 mL/min), chronic alcoholism, chronic malnutrition (low reserves of hepatic glutathione), dehydration, concomitant use w/ other drugs containing paracetamol. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Malaise, hypotension, increased hepatic transaminase level, hypersensitivity reactions, thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, neutropenia, skin rash or urticaria, anaphylactic shock.

Probenecid, salicylamide, enzyme-inducing prep, oral anticoagulants
