Indications/Uses
Resp tract infections, intra-abdominal infections & peritonitis; bacterial septicemia; skin & soft tissue infections; pelvic inflammatory disease & other infections of the genital tract.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 2-4 g/day in 2 divided doses. Severe infections: 8 g/day in 2 divided doses to 12 g/day in 3 divided doses. Max: 16 g/day. Uncomplicated gonococcal urethritis 500 mg IM as single dose.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
Special Precautions
Penicillin-sensitive patients; hepatic or renal impairment; severe biliary colitis. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions eg, maculopapular rash, urticaria, drug fever; neutropenia (reversible); diarrhea, nausea, vomiting; local reactions; vit K deficiency (rare).

Alcohol.
