Per Simfed tab Triprolidine HCl 2.5 mg, pseudoephedrine HCl 60 mg. Per 5 mL Simfed syr Triprolidine HCl 1.25 mg, pseudoephedrine HCl 30 mg. Per 5 mL Simfed Plus Expectorant syr Triprolidine HCl 1.25 mg, pseudoephedrine HCl 30 mg, guaiphenesin 100 mg. Per 5 mL Simfed Plus Cough Suppressant syr (Simfed DM) Triprolidine HCl 1.25 mg, pseudoephedrine HCl 30 mg, dextromethorphan HBr 10 mg
Indications/Uses
Upper resp tract disorders eg, rhinitis, due to allergy or vasomotor disturbances.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult 1 tab 3 times daily. Syr Adult & childn >12 yr 5 mL 3 times daily. Childn 6-12 yr 2.5 mL 3 times daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ food or milk to minimise GI irritation.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ sensitivity to other sympathomimetic drugs eg, ephedrine, phenylpropanolamine, phenylephrine, MAOIs antidepressants. Patients w/ HTN or at risk of HTN or stroke eg, overwt. Elderly.
Special Precautions
Glaucoma, prostate hypertrophy, hyperthyroid, heart disease, DM. Discontinue treatment if insomnia, palpitation or dizziness occurs. Patients w/ hypertensive drugs, TCA, or other sympathomimetic drugs eg, decongestants, appetite suppressants, psychostimulants, amphetamine. May impair the ability to drive the vehicle or operate the machinery. Patients w/ impaired liver & kidney function. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended for childn <2 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, depression, CNS excitation, tremor, tinnitus, tachycardia, arrhythmia, palpitation; dry mouth, nose, & throat, headache, skin rash, urinary retention; insomnia, blurred vision, restlessness, hallucination.
