Cefoperazone Na 500 mg, sulbactam Na 500 mg
Indications/Uses
Upper & lower resp tract infections, UTI, peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis, skin & soft tissue infections & other intra-abdominal infections.
Dosage/Direction for Use
2-4 g daily in 2 divided doses 12 hrly. Max: 4 g daily (max: 8 g daily; 4 g cefoperazone Na & 4 g sulbactam Na). Childn 40-80 mg/kg in divided doses every 6-12 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillin, sulbactam, cefoperazone or other cephalosporins.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ history of hypersensitivity. Patients w/ poor diet intake, malabsorption (eg, cystic fibrosis), receiving prolonged IV route. Under anticoagulants & vit K therapy. Liver disease. Pregnancy & lactation. Premature & neonates.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, maculopapular rash, urticaria, eosinophilia, fever, reversible neutropenia, direct +ve result in Coomb's test. Reduced Hb or hematocrit. Temporary eosinophilia & thrombocytopenia, hypoprothrombinemia. Haemolytic anemia. Headache, fever, pain at inj site, trembling. Temporary increase of SGOT, SGPT, alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin. Local reactions eg, phlebitis. Hypersensitivity reactions.
Drug Interactions
Aminoglycosides, Lactated Ringer's soln, lidocaine.
