Indications/Uses
Prophylaxis & treatment of venous thrombosis. Adjunct in treatment of coronary occlusion.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Individualized dosage. Starting dose: 5-10 mg daily for 2 days. Adjust dose according to INR results. Maintenance: 2-10 mg daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Potentially hemorrhagic conditions, imminent surgery, lumbar anesth, preeclampsia & eclampsia, threatened abortion, pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Hepatic or renal impairment.
Adverse Reactions
Hemorrhage; paralytic ileus, excessive uterine bleeding, necrosis of skin & other tissues.
Drug Interactions
Effects diminished by aminoglutethimide, barbiturates, carbamazepine, griseofulvin, phenobarb, primidone, rifampicin & vit K. Effects enhanced by anabolic steroids, amiodarone, certain antibiotics, cimetidine, clofibrate, danazol, disulfiram, imidazole antifungals, omeprazole, phenytoin, propafenone, tamoxifen & thyroxine.
