Why do I need this medicine?
Selenium belongs to a group of mineral supplements. It is used to treat selenium deficiency or lack of selenium levels in the body that cannot be corrected by intake of food that contains selenium.

Selenium is important for some of the organs (liver, muscles, and thyroid gland) in the body and the immune system.
How do I take this medicine?
Take Selenium exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Selenium is available as an oral solution in an ampoule or drinking bottle. Different drug formulations may be available in various countries. Make sure you know how to take the medicine given to you. If you have questions or do not understand the instructions written on the label, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

If you have been given the oral solution in a single-dose ampoule, follow these steps:
  1. Detach a single-dose oral ampoule from the remainder of the strip of ampoules.
  2. Open the ampoule by twisting the top and squeeze out the whole of the contents into the mouth.
  3. Hold the solution in the mouth for about 30-60 seconds before swallowing.
If you have been given the oral solution in drinking bottle, follow these steps:
  1. Open the bottle with the integrated spike of the screw cap by turning the screw cap first clockwise down then turn off the screw cap anticlockwise.
  2. Place the whole contents of the bottle in the mouth or squeeze the bottle into the enclosed measuring cup provided to get your required dose then place it in the mouth.
  3. Hold the solution in the mouth for about 30-60 seconds before swallowing.
The dose of this medicine will be decided by your doctor. Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on the type and severity of your condition.
What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
What should I take note of while taking this medicine?
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Selenium to a child.

For as long as you are taking this medicine, you may need to have regular blood tests (e.g. blood selenium levels) to check your body's response to the medicine. Your doctor will advise you about how often you need to have blood tests.
Can I take this with other medicines?
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking ascorbic acid (vitamin C).

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
What special dietary instructions should I follow?
Avoid alcohol.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.

The oral solution in drinking bottle should be used within 2 weeks after opening.
