Contents
Hyoscine butylbromide 10 mg, paracetamol 500 mg
Indications/Uses
Paroxysmal pain in the GI, spastic pain in the biliary & urinary tracts & women genital organs.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1-2 caplets 3 times daily. Max: 6 caplets daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Swallow whole w/ a little water.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Porphyria; glaucoma, prostate hypertrophy w/ any tendency of urinary retention; mechanical stenosis in GIT, tachycardia, megacolon. Hepatic impairment.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ heart disease, ulcerative colitis, paralytic ileus & pyloric stenosis. Avoid alcoholic beverages. Do not exceed the recommended dose; large dose may cause liver damage. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Not to be used in patients w/ renal impairment, Gilbert's syndrome (Meulengracht disease). Consider fetal risk in 1st trimester of pregnancy. Lactation. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Dry mouth & skin, constipation, palpitation, flushing, cardiac arrhythmia, bradycardia, tachycardia. Risk of paradoxical reactions & visual effects.
Drug Interactions
Paracetamol: May cause liver damage w/ enzyme inducers including hypnotics & antiepileptics (eg, glutethimide, phenobarb, phenytoin, carbamazepine), & rifampicin; excessive alcohol. Absorption rate may be reduced w/ propantheline. Increased absorption rate w/ metoclopramide. May prolong t½ & increase toxicity risk w/ chloramphenicol.
