Contents
Per 5 mL oral susp Mg trisilicate 325 mg, Al hydroxide colloidal 325 mg, simethicone 25 mg
Indications/Uses
GI hyperacidity, gastritis, GI & pyloric spasm, peptic & duodenal ulcer, neurogenic dyspepsia, intestinal hypermotility, flatulence. Decreases symptoms of gastric hyperacidity eg, nausea, gastric & epigastric pain, flatulence & full sensation in the stomach.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1-2 tsp.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1-2 hr after meals & before bedtime.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Severe renal impairment.
Special Precautions
Possibility of drug dependence, amnesia & increase severity of grand mal seizures; organic brain disease, cardio-resp insufficiency, decreased hepatic or renal function, COPD; long-term use >2 wk; hypophosphatemia & osteomalacia. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Fatigue, drowsiness, muscle weakness, diarrhea, constipation; nausea, vomiting.
Drug Interactions
May enhance CNS depressant effects of alcohol, barbiturates, antihistamine, phenothiazines; phenytoin (potentiation); increased muscle relaxant effect w/ benzodiazepines & other centrally or peripherally acting muscle relaxants; antacids may slow GI absorption; cimetidine & tetracycline.
