Indications/Uses
Infections of lower resp tract, GUT, gynaecological, skin & skin structure, intra-abdominal, bone & joints, CNS. Bacteremia & septicaemia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & juvenile 1-2 g 2 times daily. Max: 12 g/day in 3-4 doses. Infant & childn 50-100 mg/kg/day in 2-4 doses. Max: 200 mg/kg/day in 3-4 doses. Premature babies & newborn 50 mg/kg/day in 2 doses.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to penicillins. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
GI effects, hypersensitivity reactions, thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia, leukopenia.
