Live, oral pentavalent rotavirus vaccine
Indications/Uses
Prevention of rotavirus gastroenteritis in infant caused by the serotypes G1, G2, G3, G4 & G-serotypes that contain P1A[8] eg, G9.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Vaccination series: 3 doses administered orally to infants, w/ the 1st dose administered at 6-12 wk of age & the subsequent doses at min of 4-wk intervals.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Individuals w/ severe combined immunodeficiency disease (SCID). Previous history of intussuception.
Special Precautions
Not for administration via inj. Immunocompromised patients eg, individuals w/ malignancies or who are otherwise immunocompromised, or those receiving immunosuppressive therapy; HIV infection; recipient of blood transfusion or blood products including Ig w/in 42 days; infants w/ active GI illness, chronic diarrhea or growth retardation or history of congenital abdominal disorders or intussusception; acute infection or febrile illness. Infant <6 wk.
