Susp Intestinal & hepatic amoebiasis Adult 750 mg 3 times daily for 5-10 days.
Childn 35-50 mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses for 10 days.
Trichomoniasis Adult 2 g as a single dose for 1 day or 500 mg twice daily or 250 mg 3 times daily for 7 days.
Childn 15 mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses for 7-10 days.
Giardiasis Adult 250-500 mg 3 times daily for 5-7 days or 2 g once daily for 3 days.
Childn 5 mg/kg 3 times daily for 5-7 days.
Serious anaerob infections Adult 7.5 mg/kg 6 hrly. Max: 4 g daily for 7 days.
Infusion Treatment of identified bacterial infections Adult 500 mg 8 hrly.
Childn 7.5 mg/kg 8 hrly.
Prophylaxis of post-op abdominal infections (especially colorectal), gynaecology Adult 500 mg pre-op followed by oral prep (500 mg) 8 hrly.
Childn 7.5 mg/kg 8 hrly. All doses should be given at a rate of 5 mL/min & repeated 2 hrly.
