Fe sucrose (equiv to Fe 100 mg)
Indications/Uses
Fe deficiency anemia in patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis who are receiving supplemental erythropoietin therapy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly 1 amp as single dose for ≤3 times wkly.
Contraindications
Anemia other than Fe deficiency; Fe overload or utilization disturbances; history of asthma, eczema or other allergy; cirrhosis or hepatitis, or presence of increased serum transaminases (3x ULN); acute/chronic infection. 1st trimester pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Discontinue in serious anaphylactic/allergic reaction. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Metallic taste, headache, nausea, vomiting, hypotension, paresthesia, abdominal disorders, muscular pain, fever, urticaria, peripheral edema, dyspnea, anaphylactoid reactions, phlebitis & venous spasm.
