Ketorolac tromethamine

Short-term management of moderate post-op pain.

Adult 10 mg 4-6 hrly. Max: 40 mg daily. Elderly, renally impaired, patient <50 kg Max: Not exceeding 60 mg. Max duration of treatment: 2 days.

Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.

Moderate to severe renal impairment (serum creatinine >160 micromol/L); suspected or confirmed cerebrovascular bleeding, hemorrhagic diatheses including coagulation disorders, complete or partial nasal polyps syndrome, angioedema or bronchospasm; hypovolemia, dehydration, history of asthma, patients under operation w/ high risk of hemorrhage haemostasis, on anticoagulant including low dose heparin (2,500-5,000 u 12 hrly); history of SJS or vesicular bullous rash. Neuraxial (epidural or intratechal) administration; prophylaxis before major surgery or intraoperatively when haemostasis is critical due to increased risk of bleeding. Pregnancy, labor, delivery or lactation. Childn <16 yr.

History of GIT disease, asthma, vol depletion due to blood loss or severe dehydration, coagulation disorders; pre-op medication, support of anesth or obstet analgesia; abrupt discontinuation; cardiac decomposition, HTN. Closely monitor urine output, BUN, serum creatinine & renal function. Elderly >65 yr.

GI distubances; CNS & musculoskeletal, urinary tract & renal, CV/hematological, resp tract disorders; dermatological & hypersensitivity reactions. W/drawal.

NSAIDs, ASA, oxypentifylline, probenecid, lithium salt (contraindication); highly protein bound drugs. ACE inhibitors, methotrexate.
