Per 1,000 mL Amino acid 8% (BCAA 35%), L-threonine 4.5 g, L-serine 5 g, L-proline 8 g, L-cysteine HCl monohydrate 0.4 g, glycine 9 g, L-alanine 7.5 g, L-valine 8.4 g, L-methionine 1 g, L-isoleucine 9 g, L-leucine 11 g, L-phenylalanine 1 g, L-tryptophan 0.7 g, L-histidine HCl monohydrate 3.2 g, lysine HCl 7.6 g, L-arginine 7.3 g, Na bisulphite 0.3 g, Na 14 meq, Cl 94 meq. Fischer ratio: 37.5. Osmolarity: 700 mOsm. Energy: 320 kCal
Indications/Uses
Hepatic encephalopathy in patients w/ chronic liver disease.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 500-1,000 mL/dose by IV infusion. Peripheral infusion rate: 500 mL over 180-300 min (approx 25-40 drop/min). TPN 500-1,000 mL w/ dextrose/glucose or other soln over 24 hr via the central vein.
Contraindications
Severe renal disorders, abnormal amino acid metabolism.
Special Precautions
Severe acidosis & CHF. Monitor electrolyte balance upon administration of large dose & use w/ electrolyte soln. Premature, newborn, suckling babies, childn.
Adverse Reactions
Skin rash or other hypersensitivity reactions, nausea, vomiting, chest discomfort, palpitation; acidosis (large dose, rapid administration); hypoglycemia, hyperammonemia; transient increase of blood ammon level.
