Cefadroxil
Indications/Uses
Resp, skin & soft tissue, GUT & other infections due to gm+ve & gm-ve microorganisms.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >40 kg 500-1,000 mg twice daily. <40 kg, >6 yr 500 mg twice daily, 1-6 yr 250 mg twice daily, <1 yr 25 mg/kg/day in divided doses.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Penicillin-allergic patients. Impaired renal function, superinfections; history of GIT disease (colitis).
Adverse Reactions
Symptoms of pseudomembranous colitis, allergic reactions, genital pruritus, genital moniliasis, vaginitis, moderate transient neutropenia & minor elevations in serum transaminase.
Drug Interactions
Aminoglycosides, potent diuretic. Cephalosporin blood level & toxicity increased by probenecid.
