Lorazepam
Indications/Uses
Anxiety-related disorders, emotionally-induced autonomic symptoms & psychoneurotic disorders. Pre-surgical medication, the night before surgery.
Dosage/Direction for Use
General medical practice 2-3 tab. Psychiatry 3-10 tab. To be taken daily in divided doses.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Primary depressive disorders; primary treatment of psychosis. Pregnancy. Childn <12 yr.
Special Precautions
Dependence; acute narrow-angle glaucoma; impaired renal or hepatic function; transient anterograde amnesia or memory impairment; addiction-prone individuals; diminished tolerance for alcohol & other CNS depressant. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, dizziness, clumsiness, sedation, tiredness or weakness, sleep disturbances; change in appetite; visual disturbance; GI effects.
Drug Interactions
Additive CNS depressant effects w/ other CNS depressants including alcohol.
